Current and announcment

The art_in_gallery exhibition is a natural continuation of the art_in_space project carried out in 2020 at the BWA Contemporary Art Gallery in Katowice. The project was created in an unprecedented situation of a pandemic and the chaos it caused. In an innovative way, he combined literature with plastic arts, and “demolished” the walls of the gallery and broke into the space of large-format city screens, so far dominated by advertising. He presented contemporary art in the mighty air of the city, in non-obvious places, by random people, trying to break through the chaos that over the days, weeks and many months grew in our heads, boring new corridors in them, triggering many complex, irreversible consequences in human minds. processes. Now that the pandemic has touched and changed every part of our lives, the same artists who participated in the art_in_space project show their works in their custom gallery. How did they come into being in the new, transformed reality, although in old and known spaces for a long time? What did they return to the traditional walls with: Sławomir Brzoska, Małgorzata Jabłońska, Piotr Lutyński, Marek Kuś, Krystyna Pasterczyk, Jarosław Rodycz, Waldemar Rudyk, Adam Rzepecki and Piotr Szewczyk? Each of them, a sensitive instrument, a seismograph of volatile states, in their own language and with their tools, faces a new world, more difficult to experience a pandemic. Let’s try to read and understand the message resulting from this contact, remembering that artists have always accurately sensed the direction of the upcoming changes.

Based on the presented works of art, a series of short stories by Bartłomiej Majzl was created, available in the book accompanying the exhibition.
