Aleka Polis
Aleksandra Polisiewicz (pseud. Aleka Polis) – a visual artist working in the field of (post-)critical and feminist art. An anarchist, activist and experimenter. In her work, she uses video, digital photography and painting, creates animations and documentary films, as well as objects and manifestos. Her (post-)critical practice opens up a space for reflection on the reconstruction of identity and subjectivity within spaces controlled by power in its broadest sense. She addresses issues related to exclusion and social inequality. Her major works include “Bestiarium Podświadomości”, “Matryca”, “IBM Dedicated”, “Wartopia”, the “Rosa Rotes” protest series, “Błąd w czasoprzestrzeni”, and “krajobrazy przed i po -rewolucyjne”. She also works as a streetworker with people with disabilities and people experiencing homelessness, and is a qualified art therapist.
