The BWA Contemporary art gallery

In art, colour as a means of expression holds particular significance both in the context of developing one’s own language of artistic expression and in the awareness of its use. It is one of the most important elements of artistic expression in relation to creating one’s own narrative in relation to reality. We define the exhibition formally and symbolically within the framework of the three primary colours and black and white. The exhibition will feature works whose formal minimalism is complemented by the strength of the message, in accordance with Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s principle of “less is more.” The symbolic meaning of colour in a dichotomous world defines our cultural emblem of identity, in relation to all aspects of our functioning. The power of a single colour or colour combinations builds our position and relationship to the surrounding reality, based on what lies in between. Through identification with colour, we associate our social, cultural, and national belonging. We build messages, send signals. In this way, we manifest our belonging, difference, and diversity. The narrative of the exhibition will be built on several axes that complement and intersect each other both formally and thematically.
