‘Shifting World Orders’ Katarzyna Kujawska-Murphy in Small Space

ABSTRACT
The exhibition is about shifting orders of everyday life. The installations oscillate around the tensions of objects subjected to physics, gravity and the psychophysiology of vision. Mental and physical negativity, “absence,” following the absent – is a highly motivating stimulus, introducing conundrums about feeling entropy and transience.

DEVELOPMENT
Entropy related to life, the human body, memory, truth, cities, walls and utopia, psychological obsessions and social “norms” is visualized in my art as a fragmentation of human achievements, like architecture and man himself, who is connected by Time. The absence and desire for the unattainable is a much stronger driving force. The product of social order are traces that define the tensions between inner stillness and time. Artistic visualization and communication of a person’s current mind in the city and consciousness and desires are found in installation, drawing in space, video, documentary films. Self-portrait without self is presented in the reflection or context of mental and physical symmetry – indicating shifts in order in everyday life. Objects are subjected to the tensions of the forces of physics, gravity and the psychophysiology of vision. Mental and physical negativity, “lack”, following the absent. Induces the feeling of entropy and transience. Identity connected by memory. However, memory is also subject to degradation and entropy. Fiction can gain the status of truth. I work with large three-dimensional installations, fragments of pipes – skeletons of the city, as well as fragments of memories. The drill – the leitmotif of my installations symbolizes an innocent spiral aesthetic object with mega-power, and I visualize the power of a man who fights for freedom.

The vernissage will begin at 6 pm on 24 February 2023.
The exhibition will run until 26 March 2023.
