The BWA Contemporary art gallery

Coolection is an exhibition of works by renowned artists from the BWA Contemporary Art Gallery’s own collection. With a scope that includes graphic art, drawings, photographs and paintings by Tomasz Struk, Zbigniew Libera, Zdzisław Stanek, Edward Dwurnik, Zenon Moskwa, Jan Berdyszak, Ludwik Poniewiera, Janusz Eysymont, Halina Eysymont and Heinz Mack, it presents a showcase of changes in art forms occurring in the second half of the 20th century and reveals the background of subjects and issues that attracted the artists’ attention.

The artwork on display can be perceived as archive documentation of effective cooperation with many artists and cultural institutions, as well as of festivals and events which have been organised in the BWA Contemporary Art Gallery in the last decades. Some of these works have come to the collection as tokens of gratitude and friendship, some have been contributed as prizes for the Polish Graphic Art Triennial and others have been donated by heirs of artists who passed away.

Through the prism of its relationship with artists and other institutions, viewers gain insight into the BWA gallery’s history and the vibrant, colourful artistic community of the last decades.
